Job Description
Role Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Chief Cyber Security Officer to drive and develop a cyber security strategy for SCV and manage a small team of cyber security experts. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing policy and standards, defining control libraries, control implementation and providing governance over Ventures to ensure conformance to the control library. The individual will also be responsible for proactively engaging vendors and contracted cyber security specialists. Expectation is to take proactive hands-on efforts and initiative to solve for the security requirements of the options to the Ventures in incubation providing CISO-as-a-Service where required.
Purpose
  • To advise on and manage all employment law matters and to help mitigate reputational, financial and regulatory related risks arising from people issues across SC Ventures.
Responsibilities
Advisory
  • Advising on the employment aspects of the set-up of new ventures and entities, including intra-group transfers of employees
  • Advising on and managing employment issues across the SC Ventures footprint, including investigations, accountability reviews, material disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, redundancies, restructures and contentious/senior exits
  • Managing relevant stakeholders and providing accurate and timely updates regarding the status of disputes or issues
  • Develop the skills to support and advise the Performance, Reward and Benefits team with the drafting of employee incentives documents and the implementation of such share schemes
  • Advising on employment law aspects of global HR policy or strategy projects, and co-ordinating advice from other members of the Employment Law team, the SC Ventures legal team or external counsel
  • Advising on diversity and inclusion initiatives and/or communications
  • Keeping relevant stakeholders updated on employment law best practice and changes to relevant laws/regulations
  • Employment law support for M&A integration, including advice on staff consultation obligations and restructuring and/or employee transfer provisions
Processes
  • Advise on employment contracts and employee policies, particularly on set up of a new business or entity
  • Ensure good maintenance and governance of global and consistent contractual templates and employee policies
  • Engage and manage external counsel for jurisdictions where internal employment law expertise is not in place
  • Review and negotiate external counsel/supplier quotes and costs to ensure best value for the business
  • Ensure external counsel invoices and costs are logged through the internal case management system (Team Connect) for cost and productivity tracking purposes
Litigation/disputes
  • Advising on and managing employment litigation/disputes globally for SC Ventures
  • Liaising with external legal counsel regarding the strategic approach to employment law disputes, critically assessing advice received and tailoring this to the business/organisation
  • Collaborate with the corporate communications team to manage reputational risk
  • Identify and analyse opportunities for settlement and advise Human Resources (HR), Employee Relations (ER) and/or business stakeholders on settlement strategy
  • Prepare and negotiate settlement terms

Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • Understanding of key features of relevant laws and regulations relevant to this role (UK required, France and Germany helpful)
  • Stakeholder management skills with experience of engaging with stakeholders/clients
  • Ability to coordinate a number of activities and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Being able to apply a commercial lens to advice and adapt advice to the individual needs of stakeholders
Requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills required in order to assimilate and analyse information regarding relevant background facts
  • Excellent analytical skills to review background facts and identify the key legal issues raised by the employment dispute or issue
  • Excellent communication skills in order to discuss the key legal issues with external legal advisers and to discuss and agree the approach with the internal stakeholders
  • Disciplined approach towards timelines and tracking all steps required in order to manage matters and implement a strategic approach
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Valued Behaviours and Code of Conduct
Qualifications
  • Must be qualified to practice as a solicitor or barrister in a common law jurisdiction
  • Must have dedicated employment experience in private practice or in-house in Singapore, including handling complex employment disputes and issues.
  • At least 2+ years PQE experience
  • Experience in:
    • employment litigation
    • drafting and advising on employment contracts and policies
    • advising on employee relations issues such as disciplinaries, grievances, redundancy/restructure and termination of employment
    • incentives/employee benefits experience (preferred)
