Tableau Consultant (Short-term contract)

About the role:

Aspire's Business Intelligence (BI) team wants to kick start its Tableau journey with the right framework and process in place. The aim is to hire prospective consultants for the short term to help the current BI team achieve the transition to Tableau with the best in class implementation
Background.

Apsire's BI team is a long term customer of Periscope BI tool and has hit its limits in terms of usability and features. Aspire has now planned to transition to Tableau as the primary BI tool and plans to complete this transition in the next 2-3 months. The team is looking for external Tableau consultants who can fill this gap in the short term which will help upskill our existing analysts.

What will you be doing?

• Provide accurate and reliable information
  • Be the single Tableau champion the team can look up to for anything related to the tool
  • Should be able to influence and inspire the current BI analysts to build the best visualization and platform for business users
  • Know both the administrative side of Tableau and the User visualization part of the tool as well
  • Configure, optimize and help maintain Tableau Server and dashboards
  • Have a good understanding of the new features and limitations of Tableau
  • Past experience in building Data warehouse is a plus
• Improve our decisions and framework
  • Champion dashboard quality, consistency, usability and reliability by documenting and applying best practices to design and development
  • Able to build "support-free" solutions that will not require remediation or constant manual fixing when the data updates
  • Establish standards and best practices for requesting, prioritizing and developing dashboards
• Critical Thinking
  • Balance out long term solutions versus short term workaround solutions
  • Customize solutions to our data stack and not generic solutions
  • Think out of the box and come up with creative solutions to any dashboarding issues
• Key Deliverables
  • Own the data layer in data warehouse which is exposed to Tableau and ensure best practices are followed in this layer
  • Build/Assist in building dashboards to high standards of self service and insight generation
  • Overlook and advice BI analysts on all data models and dashboards built on Tableau
  • Help list out potential features in tableau which could potentially benefit Aspire that we are currently not using (PII, Access control, Color palette, Data cubes, extracts etc..)
  • Monitor the dashboards built and usage of business stakeholders and optimize the experience (latency, speed, data export, volume of data )
