Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

· As UI Designer you will be responsible for the client experience of CCIB client facing portals; this means you’ll be tasked with creating interfaces that delight people and meet the goals of our Business Corporate and Institutional business. You will have experience designing products in domains such as fintech and or large corporate banking platforms. Data Visualisation experience would be desirable.

· We are looking for an experienced and talented UI designer to design and shape unique, user-centric products and experiences. The ideal candidate will have experience working in agile teams, with developers, UX designers and copywriters. You will be able to make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction.

· You will internalise complex information about products and services to make them understandable and usable to real humans like you and us. Since this role is fully focused on solving problems for customers and business alike, it requires empathy and business understanding in equal parts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

· Create, improve and use wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, and effectively communicate your interaction ideas using any of these methods.

· Present and explain your design decisions. All your design decisions should be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e. color theory, visual weight, etc.)

· Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest changes in your industry’s standards.

· You use wireframes to express your vision and seek alignment and deliver the final flows with applied components from our design system.

· You frequently engage with our UX, research, analytics and value capture teams to understand pain points and opportunities to improve the experience.

· You will use your entrepreneurial spirit and ability to be hands-on. Drive, grit and the ability to evangelise the significance of user experience is an important skill for any team member to affect the change we’re after

· Utilise and contribute to the CCIB Unified Design System

Business

· Our team services the entire Corporate and Institutional Banking domain. This includes corporate banking and trading platforms, API developer platforms, and internal employee productivity tools and services. Your initial focus will be on Data Products in and outside of the Straight 2 Bank portal as well as other products as the business requires.

Processes

· You need to be familiar with design language systems, component libraries, and UI best practices. You must be able to structure your time, and be capable of taking the initiative. Your delivery responsibilities span prototyping, testing, working with engineers on the quality assurance processes. You understand and operate in Scrum and Agile methodologies

· Our team is responsible for delivering quality tool and service design, that is meant to enable colleagues and customers. In doing so, we must be careful with data management and play our part in ensuring we protect it and that our designs take this into consideration. Risk management is interwoven in our design activities and you will need to ensure that risk is always a consideration throughout your design process all the way to delivery.

Governance

· Our team contributes the Design Community of Practice, we inform design governance decisions in the Bank. As part of our responsibility, we must oversee areas such as career progression, mentorship, tooling, support, and more. It will be your responsibility to support and participate in these activities. Primarily in advocating for design and engineering best practices.

What we would like you to bring

· Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize data for the best possible outcome

· Continued education and research into UI trends and current design strategy and technology

· Experience with coding and ability to troubleshoot using HTML, CSS and comparable languages

· Experience driving projects from initiation to delivery, defining the business value gained with the program and utilising this with stakeholders for buy-in.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Interaction Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

· Enthusiasm for tackling the large cultural shift necessary to establish a design practice.

· You can be strategic one moment and a detail-obsessed designer the next.

· You have an understanding of psychology and behavioural science.

· You also understand global diversity and the ability to advise on solutions that suit all.

· You have the ability and desire to keep challenging yourself and others with entrepreneurial attitude and passion for observing human behaviour, identifying team biases and surfacing these with grit.

· You can guide business partners and evangelise a mindset for good experience and user-centricity.

· You work smart, are flexible and skilled in establishing practical processes.

· You love to take ownership, see your projects through to launch and keep an eye on them afterwards, always on the lookout for improvement.

Desirable but not mandatory

· Creating and editing visual content including data-informed stories, infographics, charts, and graphs.

· Transforming data sets, quantitative and qualitative analysis into compelling visuals.

· Providing visual, technical and editorial guidance.

· Developing new capabilities beyond static reports and spreadsheets (focus on PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau)

· Innovation with emrging technologies with traditional BI tools to create truly unique solutions

Our Ideal Candidate

· 3+years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UI design preferably in the corporate and financial services space.

· Banking product knowledge is preferred

· Proficient with design programs such as Figma

· IC Agile or SCRUM certification would be desirable

· Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment to create best in class interfaces for our Corporate Clients

· Experience creating wireframe and site mapping

Role Specific Technical Competencies

· Strong influencing and communication skills – oral, written and presentation

· Strong understanding of visual elements (Layout, Type, Fonts…)

· Knowledge of engineering principles and front-end engineering terminology to facilitate communication with engineering teams

· Design prototypes to test, and conduct testing and validation with them

· UX Design – wireframes, screenflow diagrams

· UI Design – leverage our existing UI components when creating new design system components

· Experience with design standard tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision, Axure, Adobe, and others. Must be tool agnostic!
